CBS AGM 2020

2020-05-04 07:27:02 by Nima Khadem Mohtaram

Dear CBS Members,

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Canadian Biomaterials Society (CBS) will take place on Friday, May 22nd, 2020, 12 – 2 pm (EDT) through Zoom video-conference. The link will be posted on this site closer to the meeting date. The minutes of the last AGM (2019) will also be provided prior to our AGM.

The CBS invites nominations for several positions within the CBS Board of Directors. Nominations are being sought for the positions of President-Elect, 4 Senior Board Members (2020-2022 term), and one Student Board Representative (2020-2021 term). Nominations will be accepted by email before the AGM, as well as in person at our virtual AGM.

If you are a current CBS member and would like to nominate someone for the President-Elect, Senior or Student Board of Director positions in advance of the AGM, please send an email to Dr. Kibret Mequanint indicating your support for their nomination, including the nominee's full name and email address. Advance nominations are strongly encouraged to streamline the nomination process (particularly given the virtual format); however, nominations will also be accepted during the AGM. Please note that the nomination process will close at the AGM.

All nominees will be contacted, either by direct call at the AGM or by email following the AGM, to verify their acceptance of the nomination. If there are more candidates than positions, the candidates will be asked to provide a maximum 250-word statement regarding their vision for CBS. Subsequently, all CBS members will be sent detailed information for an online election in early June. If there are not more nominations than positions, then the candidates would be elected by acclamation without the need of an online election.

Moreover, the board is looking forward to receiving a proposal for the location of the CBS 2022 Annual Meeting. Proposals will be accepted by email before the AGM or during the meeting as well. The proposals will be presented during the AGM, and if we receive several proposals, an electronic vote will follow.

We look forward to seeing you virtually! We hope you are all doing well and staying healthy.
