CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Dear members and friends of the Canadian Biomaterials Society,

The 36th Annual General Meeting, hosted by the University of Waterloo, will be held from May 13th to May 15th on Hopin, a virtual conference platform. The theme for this conference is “Translational Biomaterials and Beyond”. Please visit the website.

Your organizing committee is delighted to announce that we are now calling for abstracts! Abstracts will be accepted until midnight on February 17th, 2021. Use this link to submit your abstract: biomaterials.ca/#!/submit-abstract. We intend to provide as many opportunities for oral presentations as possible.

CBS membership is not required in order to submit an abstract and abstract submission is free.
Early registration will open around the end of January. Members pay a lower registration fee, so be sure to become a member or renew your membership!

We have arranged five exciting plenary speakers. They are:

  • Prof. Molly Shoichet, University of Toronto
  • Dr. Michael May, CCRM, Toronto
  • Prof. Linda Griffith, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • Prof. Francois Barthelat, University of Colorado, Boulder
  • Prof. Marcus Buehler, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

We will also have keynote talks by Prof. Paul Santerre, recipient of the CBS Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020, and Prof. Marc Gauthier, recipient of the CBS Early Career Investigator Award in 2020.

We will have plenty of symposia and workshops with their own keynote and invited speakers over the course of the conference. These include:

  • Clinical/Industrial Partnerships
  • Bioprinting for Tissue Engineering
  • Biomaterialsmediated non-viral gene delivery
  • Mechanics of Biomaterials and Tissues
  • Innate Immune Response to Biomaterials
  • Ophthalmic Drug Delivery

The Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Biomaterials Society will be held on Friday, May 14th, 2021. There will be a fire-side chat on translation and commercialization, as well as an engaging debate on a controversial topic within the biomaterials field that will allow for audience participation. Networking and student engagement activities are also being planned.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us by sending an email to conferences@biomaterials.ca.
